Birds Of Sorrow
Photo quote de jour
I spotting these birds flying over the cemetery last week. They comfortably swooped down and played amongst the grave stones. They weren't graves to them, but quiet spaces where they wouldn't be disturbed. I thought of the old Chinese proverb about birds of sorrow as they relate to depression. The black mood can swoop down and roost, building nest of despair, or not.
Black moods may seem mysterious. They sometime come out of nowhere, but there is no mystery if you play detective. As someone with a long history of black moods, I've learned to be on the alert for dark birds circling above my head. The best way to avoid them roosting is to simply move. They can't build nest if you take action. Identify the source (usually unexpressed anger), express what you're feeling and move on.

This was uplifting but what do you do if the nest is already there?

This was a difficult winter for many clients and friends. Luckily, the dark birds spared me this year (I' think to offer clarity to others). When the nest is already there, prepare to dismantle it twig by twig.. Examine each piece in detail, how it relates in the overall construction of the nest. There are clues in every piece. They often serve as a protective mechanism. When you unravel the source, the sadness usually dissolves to uncover another emotion like anger, Keep busy, keep alert for new twigs to add to the size of the nest.
