I simply love mandalas. When I taught middle school I'd give detailed ones to my students to color in the time before they took tests & then directly afterwards. It helped to not only focus them but also to help them relax. Believe it or not, the students who got the most out of them were those who were involved in gang activites. I think the soul calming feeling was what they were craving. They seemed to thrill in the peace they got out of them so eventually I got to where I'd have some ranging from quite simplistic to extremely complex available for them at all times. Sometimes, my students would be working on them AND listening to my history lectures. And amazingly they actually heard what was being said. Needless to say, I think they're great.
