Spring Brings The Winds of Change
Photo quote de jour

Yesterday, I posted a blog about gallery hopping in New York. If you didn't see it or want to to look at the quiz again, please scroll down to yesterday's entry. Before I get to the answers from the quiz, I wanted to comment on today's quote de jour. When I woke up this morning, something felt different. I could hear the wind blowing with insistence, the winds of change. I don't normally look outside the window first thing, but I did and sure enough, most of the snow had disappeared over night.
For the first time since the damaging storm, I could survey the casualties of over an acre of fallen tree limbs, branches, twigs and debris. My back ached with the thought of the cleanup involved. With my nose pressed against the window, I kept looking for signs of change. It's too soon for major budding yet. The tree bark is as ashy as a death mask. But wait, the tiny branchlets, pale and rose-tinged pulsed with life. There it was, subtle but true. Blink and you might not notice, just like the blurry scene of trees and the GW bridge (above) I'd snapped on my way into the city to gallery hop. It reminded me of a charcoal sketch and I wondered how could I change it. So I did. A little manipulation and the same scene turned impressionistic and painterly. Change is in the wind this spring. It swirls all around you, right this second. What do you want to change?

Now, to the quiz answers.
1) B It's an illuminated billboard
2) B It is original art. I use the word original loosely.
3) A They are real humans.
4) B I couldn't resist adding the caption "Diamonds are..." I shot this image through the window, amused by the refracted light 'diamonds" and the Chase bank logo of art meeting commerce.
5) A I shot the charming vignette-like Chelsea Barber Shop. One of a series.

I am very happy with the way life is right now. So no big changes at the moment. Just want to remain healthy and keep my animals healthy. And I do see some nice changes around here. The trees are beginning to bloom. Have a great weekend.

That was a hard quiz but it made me look at things differntly.

That is the crux of what I do at the blog and as a life coach.

Beautiful words and the difference between the cold wind of the first painting, and the color version, impressionistic and painterly is amazing.
I want sun. That's it. I think I need a different climate. Maybe San Francisco.

Yes to sun but isn't SF foggy much of the time?

It is very foggy in the morning, with a thick, pea-soup fog when the boats come in. Unique to SF. The times I've been there I never saw any fog - Oct, Dec, July. Going again for a week, June, I think, with the kids.
But...every day of every season, it can be chilly. Sweatshirt and long pants in the car.
Denver and Chicago have much less sun, for example. Out West it is dry. The fog comes and goes, but you know how it is in the East...esp. near NYC...overcast with a change of overcast tomorrow and the next 3 months.

Layla,
A wonderful story. You write so beautifully, I did get the correct answer. Score one for me...Eh?!
Once again, I would so enjoy visiting
the galleries, through your eyes and camera.
Have a really good weekend. ~mo-zy

Ok, so I read the answers before I was able to read the quiz. haha. talk about excitement. Pretty interesting places you have there, I might say.
Now, the pix you have above certainly made me dizzy, but I got your message. The winds of change and the entry of spring. Coincidentally, I've just been through a transformation myself and observed a series of synchronicities for the past few days. Thank you for magnifying the effect with this post, Layla. =)
Cheers,
Ryhen
