Aries Mandala - Beginnings and Endings
Quote de jour
"Everything the Power of the World does is done in a circle. The sky is round, and I have heard that the earth is round like a ball, and so are all the stars. The wind, in its greatest power whirls. Birds make their nest in circles, for theirs is the same religion as ours. The sun comes forth and goes down again in a circle. The moon does the same and both are round. Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing, and always come back again to where they were. The life of a man is a circle from childhood to childhood, and so it is in everything where power moves. Our tepees were round like the nests of birds, and these were always set in a circle, the nation’s hoop."
~Black Elk
A flock of crows has made great sky circles around our house since the storm, calling, cawing non-stop. They are messengers of change and often death. In the tradition of native Indian power animals, they are one of my totem animals since early childhood. I can remember being about five-years-old, staying in the countryside north of Montreal, lying in bed on a rainy day like today, listening to the crows speak to me. Their raspy song soothes and stings depending on the occasion.
The wheel of the zodiac has come full circle and we begin again with Aries, the first sign of the twelve signs. I blogged about the winds of change before the storm. My prescience gives me no pleasure. I knew death hovered, I just didn't know who or when. My husband, a fiery Aries woke me up this morning. In the deafness between sleeping and waking, I only heard the word "died". A friend of the family died last night. She was ready to be released from a long battle with cancer. The crossroads of change like the spring equinox, mark beginnings and endings, but the circle continues in an infinite loop.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend Layla. I remember from my last visit here that you said you'll be away for a few days. I wonder if that has anything to do with what happened recently. On second thought, maybe there is a connection. Our intuition really has its own way of giving us hints about the future. I hope you're feeling better and everything turns out ok.

Thanks Ryhen, I'm being with what is.

I'm sorry about your friend, Layla. You sure seem to be enveloped in some heavy duty energy of shifting vibrations right now. Even today's mandala, while beautiful like all of yours, has a dark, heavy feel to it (at least from my perspective). For what it's worth, I do, however, get a sense that you're just on the verge of emerging back into a period of lightness and expansion, and that this current period was necessary to magnify the experience of expansion.
And now I'll stop rambling!

Yes, winds of change. And yes about the process. I'm okay with the ebbing and flowing.

I acknowledge your tribute to my sign
It seems accurate enough Layla...
To beginnings and the endings they beckon...
LOL,
Bob

Wow, we had former music directer at Church lose a battle with cancer on Saturday. The winds of change indeed. I always remember, the ending is just a new beginning.
Hope you are doing well and you get to celebrate his life.
