Spring Changes Everything

Photo quote de jour

Happy Friday! And because I'm feeling generous, dear reader, there are TWO photo quote de jours today. It's the end of the week and we've come to the end of exploring changes and transitions. As I photographed the hydrangea bush in my garden (above), those words popped into my head. Change is natural, organic but we have to allow our leaves to unfurl. If we resist change, we create more stress and anxiety. And like everything in life, there is a beginning, a middle and an end. (see earlier posts this week for the beginning and middle or in between phase of transition.)

The final stage of transition is action. It's the excitement of new beginnings. It's the leap into the unknown but it means taking the first step. If you're dangling on the precipice of change but afraid to jump, maybe you're not ready. You may need to spend longer in the in between phase. But if you're dangling long enough that moss is growing under your feet, JUMP! already. You can't cross a chasm in two jumps, but one big leap.

I knew things had shifted for me today, when I didn't look outside at the tree damage this morning. For the past two weeks since the storm devastated major trees on our property, I'd run to the window first thing to look at the broken limbs. I needed to do this to make sense of the change, to confirm the end of those beautiful trees. Every day the surreal scene jarred my sensibilities. I couldn't believe it. It took two weeks for me to accept the change and now that I have, I feel at peace and ready for the next phase. Chainsaw season is officially here. Where are my earplugs?

Oh so lovely the words and images. We have clouds. And coldish. Chainsaw season. Ewe. I live in the city, we just have auto exhaust.

Off to a conference this weekend, locally but late nights, early morn. RWA. Pitching to an editor tomorrow early.

Love the picture of the purple flowers. Are those violets??? They look so pretty. And good for you to have made the decision to accept that the trees are gone. You really did get a lot of damage. But it sounds like you are ready to accept the fact that the trees are gone. New ones will come. And I agree Ewwwww to the chain saw. Yuck.
Thanks for visiting our blog and I would love for you to do a special on one of our kitties. I would love to have you do MewMew. Do you want me to send you some pictures or you can just take them off the blog if you would rather?? The most recent post about Mewmew is a photo tag post. This sure is nice of you to do this.

And if you have a fire place, which I suspect you do. You have the summer for the wood to cure. Then enjoy their warmth as they return to the sky to someday once again fall to the earth and become life again.

I like that vision of re-cycling, but I like to cure wood for at least two years.
