Cat on a hot tin roof or rug
Photo quote de jour

News & Mews
After weeks of tumult and trying times, a crisis free week was just what the doctor ordered.
Some like it hot, especially cats. An early heat wave descended this week leaving all our cats limp as proverbial dishrags. But happy dishrags. Merlin does grace me with cute posing at times, but not this week. No matter how I prodded, he lay inert as a dish of melting butter on his favorite new perch; a rug on top of a wicker chest on the porch. Domino, who is growing more wise with every passing day, graciously allowed Merlin to snooze on his spot.
There were flowers to plant but no one expressed any interest in helping me.

Domino, being more sensible, as feral cats are, lay in the coolness under the boxwood shrubbery. Here he is doing his best Oliver Twist impression this morning. He might have been be soaked from the rain, but don't feel too sorry for him. He loves water and begging. This is his attempt for a third breakfast.

Domino, is more spoiled than most indoor cats and has my husband's number on speed dial. More food? Water? You don't like that flavor? Ok, how about this? Oh, Dom Dom, you're all wet, you want to come inside?"

Spot the Greta Garbo of kitties. There's wild area behind the barn with a small stream. It's the watering hole of choice for all manner of animals and birds including Domino, who is waiting for the greenery to fill in so he can play tiger in the jungle, away from human, prying eyes.

Coco played Garbo indoors, happily sitting at an open window.
Link of the week http://feralkittens.org/ Artist and photographer Chriss Pagani is a big advocate of feral cats. She has captured the natural beauty of feral cats in gorgeous calendar and a check out the rest of her cat-related activities.
Normally, on Sundays I post photos of everything I read, but this was too good to wait.

This is the story of a cat named Oscar who lives at a nursing home in Rhode Island. It's written by David Dosa, a geriatrician who works there. What's remarkable is Oscar's uncanny ability to make a bee line to patients who are about to die. He knows before any doctor or machinery when the end is near and goes to work sharing his gift of comfort, a feline intermediary between worlds. Dr. Dosa who initially had no experience with cats (he didn't even know what catnip was) and skeptical about metaphysical abilities, gradually came around to accepting Oscar's unique gifts.
And if you haven't already seen the hysterical French kitty who stands ramrod straight...

Love the photo of chubby cheeks Domino begging for more food. No wonder Amber is secretely in love with him - they're not just kitty soulmates, but they also clearly share a love of food
