Cat Saturday & Kitty Wisdom 101 EARTH DAY
Photo quote de jour

Yesterday, I followed my outdoor feral kitty and major muse, Domino to the pond. Little did I expect to see him jump onto a mossy log and drink like a lion at a watering hole in Africa. This scene was worthy of another Kitty Wisdom 101.

After a brutal winter, it does my heart good to see Domino happier than ever. He lounges in any number of secret and not so secret spots, gambols on the lawn with Merlin, gives his lungs a workout begging for more food. It's scary how loud he's getting. He's almost Siamese!
Coco,(on the left) walks around in circles when coaxed outdoors. Most days, she prefers sleeping and sleeping and more sleeping. It's supposed to be normal for geriatric cats but still, we're searching for a new vet who makes house calls.

It's hard to believe cats from the same litter can be so different. Merlin by contrast is frisky, curious, kittenish, chomping at the bit for his morning walk and breakfast grass. It doesn't get any more tender than the emerald slivers available now.

He also supervised the removal of logs. The tree guys removed most of the storm damaged tree limbs but Merlin insisted on saving these tree stumps from the wood chipper as a throne for Earth Day.
Merlin also agreed to be the poster boy for this week's blog theme on blooming, but did exclaim, "I am not a pansy!" Make no mistake, Merlin is NOT amused by the new blog design. He announced his horror by scratching at the photo of Domino on the new header. "Where is my photo with my beautiful blue eyes?" I promised to rectify the situation by adding another photo or maybe alternating photos monthly? Merlin draped himself across my neck like a mink stole this morning purring, please, please, pick me, I want to be your # 1 boy again. Any suggestions on avoiding a WW3 of cat fights?
LINK OF THE WEEK The Cat Therapist
As an intuitive and therapist, I don't doubt the psychic powers of cats, but have you ever wondered about therapists who work with cats? Dogs have the dog whisperer but do cats have a cat whisperer? Yes, there is. For more than 30 years, CaroleWilbourn has consulted with veterinarians to devise "The WilbournWay" — logical, easily implemented methods for preventing and/or correctingcommon feline emotional and psychological problems. Also known as "the kittyFreud" and "the founding mother of cat psychology," Carole has published fivebooks on cat psychotherapy and logged more than 100,000 miles making house callsto patients throughout the world. Carole wrote a monthly column, "Cats on theCouch," for Cat Fancy magazine for 16 years, and is currently a columnistfor In Defense ofAnimals.

After a week of lovely weather, we've backslid into winter again. 40 today, and snow flurries expected tomorrow. So it was a treat to revisit your blog this morning and see all those gorgeous pictures. Always loved that Auden quote, though it's a truth some find hard to swallow.

Wow, Domino is picking up the Siamese accent from Coco and Merlin. He is a true survivor. Oh don't tell me cats can't decipher accents. Today, we spoke to ours with their cherished food words but with a Southern accent. They ran away. Next we try Bahston.
Merlin is so adorable and I guess he has a right to be upset. Oh well. You can always give him more treats.
Coco is sweet.

LOL, and what about other languages?

Oh my Domino is very handsome. What a great picture of him drinking off of the log. Those feral cats know how to find things. The other kitties are great looking too. They should get their picture on the header, that is for sure.
Great post but you know me, I love the kitties.
Have a great week end.

Marg, thanks, I think the consensus is to put more kitty photos on the header.

Oui, les chats comprendes francaises.
Quand je dits 'mange bebe' they meow. Infortunately, I said 'eat the baby'
but it is easier than
'mange les nourriture bebe.

Great shot of Domino drinking water - Amber's Domino gallery is taking over the house....
Sounds like Domino has been taking voice lessons from Merlin and Coco. And I'm not surprised Merlin had issues with the new blog design...

Ingrid, Merlin complained until I added his photo to the banner. Domino sends loud purrs to Amber.

Great photo of Merlin! He looks like a little Buddha.

He is my little Buddha man. In his infinite wisdom he has suggested alternating photos of all the kitties.

You're a true kitty Goddess. What beautiful Siamese. I used to have one and loved how they talk so much. I'm sure you know that every black cat is part Siamese. Great post and look forward to reading more.
