Foodie Photos Heaven or Hell?
Photo quote de jour

I'm a life long foodie. When other girls were scribbling in diaries about their crushes, I'd log every meal on family road trips, noting the merits of hamburgers versus hot dogs. At thirteen, my family tuned into guinea pigs for my culinary misadventures. My mother still hates curry. I probably should have joined the legions of other food bloggers, but I think that territory is as clogged like Mario Batali's arteries. There is a scary amount of food blogs out there. Sample some at Food Blogs if you feel like salivating.
A couple years ago I began photographing restaurant meals, but reined it in when I noticed everyone doing it. Things have turned so obsessive in New York, some restaurants are banning flash happy diners.
The photo above is from my dinner at Half Moon Restaurant Good meal, nice photo but nicer company with friends. And isn't that ultimately what dining out is about?

Is anyone doing a foodie photo quote de jour? Maybe virgin turf for you?

I do them from time to time, but that would be whole new blog and I'm already divided up like a cherry pie.

Oh I do love food too. There are just as many pet blogs out there too. But I don't know what else to write about. I didn't realize there were that many food blogs. I am always on the look out for a good recipe. I have gotten into making everything from scratch to avoid all the chemicals in the food you buy.
Have you got a good recipe for spaghetti sauce??/ LOL.

Marg, made from scratch is best. I never follow recipes but tweak them to make them my own. The problem is they can never be duplicated!

I love food and I guess I am a foodie in a way, but a lot of foodies I know just eat too much of the wrong things.
I am so fussy about food, I love mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, or wholesome cooked food.
And of course, wonderful desserts soaked with liquor.
I am slowly creating terrific recipes I like.
I get so hungry when I write.

K, do you eat while you write?

I snack on fat free croutons, but then I do take a break for meals. Yesterday it was gazpacho with cheese and
croutons, today I will make another batch of fruit smoothies. Strawberries so cheap this week I bought 2 pounds!
btw, what is that tasty looking meal? Sort of a slaw and meat?

You're making me hungry! This is wild Atlantic salmon and risotto.

Now I am hungry. I am going to have to put this in my manuscript, but since they're in SF, the salmon will have to be wild Alaskan salmon with risotto. At the restaurant where they have dinner, they talk about the Dungeoness crab cakes, the Boston Chowder, tender scallops broiled to perfection, gourmet cakes soaked with liquor = that he makes - chardonnay and merlot - and other dishes. She wants chicken, but hey, it is a seafood restaurant, so he recommends the chowder, dungeoness crab cakes and the salmon fraiche mousse as an appetizer and either the Alaskan salmon and risotto or the scallops, with a sponge cake soaked with ...hmm Chambord, topped with raspberry jam, cream, and filled with a bavarian creme.
!!!
You can see my problem. To eat like that costs a fortune, or takes hours. When I break down and go to the store and buy some Montillio's cakes, I think. Tasty but Montreal is much better.
I did buy some chowder yesterday. Must get more Salmon soon. Tonight, chowder, gazpacho, salmon, and salad.

That settles it, where's my chocolate?

How I used to love those late night get-togethers with friends in Chinatown restaurants, gabbing the hours away. Half the time I was so busy talking, I didn't even know what I was putting in my mouth.

Nothing better than the holy trinity: food, friends, fun.

I love the words with the picture! I am a foodie at heart too who really loves to talk about food or share recipes. I cook when I can (we are always running around and it can be hard to find time) but my hubby and I also love to eat out and try new places. Sometimes I put a recipe on my site to share. I should take pics more of what I make.

Kim, if you post a recipe, a photo really helps.
