Wisteria Wishes For Desperate Housewives
Photo quote de jour
Be kind. I thought I'd take a stab at poetry today. The photo is for my cyber BFF Kathryn who is a big Desperate Housewives fan.

I like both. The wisteria is the perfect flower to portray romance with its lush blooms and mystery with its twisted branches.

Thanks, this wisteria is wonderfully gnarled.

Ah, Layla, you are so sweet to post this for me.
I wish for wisteria - I have seen it at a friend's house, but I don't know if I've seen it here. I must google to see where it is in my town, then take a look at it.
I've been in love with the name 'Wisteria' ever since I started watching DH, summer reruns of 05.
I don't know why I'm fascinated. I also love Hollyhocks, my grandma grew them in Southern Utah, where palm trees also grow, and foxglove, and sweet william, sweet pea, snapdragons, lillies of the valley, and bleeding hearts, all things you don't always see that much around here.
The poem is cute, by the way.

You're welcome. Look around, they should be blooming in gardens around you in the next week. Re: poetry I won't quit my day job

My town might not have any. I googled and other towns came up, but not mine, so I googled my town.
A former neighbor in a very very old house did have it in her backyard, but really, I've heard people speak of it very little. Maybe it's a climate thing?
I will be sure to see if there is any in my town. Magnolia, Cherry, Dogwood, Azalea, Forsythia, Rhodos, Tylips, Daffs, Crocus, we have plenty of all those, plus rose and wild rose, but not sure about wisteria.
I did find that there are two species in the US - Japanese, and Chinese.
Here is something from a blog about Wisteria in New England.
----
branches of the wisteria native of China (Wisteria sinensis) wind and wrap from left to right in an anti-clockwise direction whereas the wisteria from Japan (Wisteria floribunda) twist and wind round in a clock-wise direction from right to left.

Our town is very densely populated, it is 'thickly settled', and it looks from photos I've seen, that maybe wisteria requires quite a bit of space. There was a New England blog with lots of photos, some were coastal, some were Salem, but I honestly have not seen much. I will deliberately look for it, and I will also ask someone.

Well, I drove around and found some. Not much. Mostly lilac bushes, but I found a few. Really unique looking.
