Every Day is Cat Saturday (for cats)

I've started posting cat photo quote de jours on TWITTER which will not NOT be seen at the blog. You're invited to join me there. See link in side bar. NEW. I'll be installing a PayPal donation button to help cats in need.
Domino star feral and porch landlord has a live and let live attitude with birds, baby raccoon and Mr. Possum eating his food, but he draws the line with dirty water. The porch is bird central with at least six nests. Mommy and daddy birds are madly flying through to feed their growing young. This year, is especially poop heavy. I've painted the porch again! and it's already poop splattered. Any suggestions are welcome. It's not hygienic situation for Domino.

Domino is enjoying several new napping spots in the summer living room and staying close to home. He desperately needs a brushing but I can't approach him with any implement with twenty paces. He hates brooms which makes me think he's had some bad experience at the wrong end of a stick in his mysterious past. He has thus far eluded trapping for neutering but we will persevere. Merlin enjoys the porch but Coco prefers the comfort of real beds indoors. She just finished a successful round of antibiotics for kidney issues and seems perkier. Perky enough to engage in an arm's length liaison with Domino.

With endless sitting choices, what do they do? Go to the one place I don't want them to. I was airing the porch rug and of course it became the defacto primo spot. King Merlin deposed Queen Coco and took the throne for himself.

Domino loves the most natural scratching post, a big tree root. Life is good for now, but life is unpredictable. I'm beginning to envision life after kitties. With older cats, death can be a whisper away. While there is no way to brace for death, I'm beginning to explore that uncomfortable conversation. Cats are living longer and more vibrant lives and while they are alive I'm feeling more gratitude and appreciation for every lick, snuggle, cuddle and meow.

Link of the Week I came across an interesting cat rescue alternative.Shelter Me Inc.Org They have a barn cat program for unadoptable cats. Great video and photos.

He's an adorable kitty although I'm sure he'd prefer something a little more macho.

Oh, that interchange between Coco and Domino made me laugh! And believe me, I needed a laugh - Domino's beloved Amber is still not feeling better. She's resting comfortably, but still feeling pretty puny.
And after the laugh about Domino, your paragraph about treasuring your time with your older kitties made me cry. One of my clients once said to me that being a pet owner is the most masochistic thing we can do - after all, in the normal order of things, they always die before we do. But yet, I wouldn't want to miss one moment of the times I've had in my life with the cats that are no longer with me. So perhaps that doesn't make us masochistic, but rather, blessed for being able to open our hearts to that special love that only cats can bring.
I'm so glad to hear that Coco's kidney issues were resolved so easily.

Ingrid, you speak so beautifully for every cat parent. We're all rooting for Amber here. Coco isn't out of the woods yet but any improvement is welcome.

Love the picture of Domino saying he loves Amber. In fact all the pictures are terrific especially Coco and Merlin. Sure glad to hear that Coco is better. We just have to keep hoping Amber gets better. Along with Ingrid, I agree totally about the time we spend with our cats is so fantastic, I wouldn't miss a minute of it. Both you and Ingrid couldn't have said it better.
I have a cat right now that I think might have cancer on her ear and she is the only cat that I have that is next to
impossible to catch. So Mon. hopefully I can catch her and off to the vet.
I really do love the time that I spend with the cats. You cannot replace that.

The "summer living room" loves like a wonderfully creative place to be!

Missy, it sure is. It doubles as my office!

It is too bad you're not posting the photos on the blog.
The point of Social Networking is to extend in many directions.
Twitter has become very unweildy for me. I rarely go there. Ocassionally I post things there but never follow up.
When I do go to Twitter, my entire page or pages is filled with retweets and requests to follow from people I don't know.
It is nearly impossible for me to find anything of value in 2 minutes. I'd have to spend 30 minutes per time and I don't have that time.
When I do post things, I post them on Gather, FB and sometimes Twitter, because people are in different places.
Twitter is another phenomon of look at me, but no one has time to look at others.

I understand how complicated it's getting. Twitter is experimental for me at this point.
