I Can See Clearly Now

Photo quote de jour

Listen...song lyrics can be the Magic 8 Ball of wisdom sometimes. This song gave me my AHA moment.

Last week, I misplaced two pairs of glasses; one pair for almost a week. I'm always looking for hidden, deeper meanings and felt the lack of vision was a metaphor. It niggled and gnawed at me. Every day I'd comb through the house. It's a good sized house but not a mansion. What was I not looking at? I knew that when I finally found my "eyes" I'd see the light (bad pun intended). The leopard print glasses lay underneath a footstool by my bed that my elderly cats use to jump onto the bed. How could I have missed such an obvious location? What else did I miss? I meditated on what I called an exercise in frustration and it hit me: FOCUS! I have so many things going on, so many half finished projects, that nothing was getting completed. My new life coaching website has serious technical flaws and was slated to be launched weeks ago. I haven't queried an agent in almost a year. I have one finished and two unfinished manuscripts. Something in my ADHD existence had to give, something had to shift. Where were the big time sucks? Email, Googling, blog hopping, Facebook, Twitter and this blog. Get me off this hamster wheel NOW.

Done! The Boomer Muse is (as of this minute) officially on vacation for the month of June. I'll still be here sporadically, but how often I don't know. Some days might just a photo or a brief post. If you don't want to miss any post or the latest updates, please subscribe. It's tough love but it'll be worth it.

Hugs and thank-you! I am so grateful for all of you who take time out of your busy life to visit. Feel free to also visit the archives from the past two years. There's a mind boggling array in many categories which may be just what you're looking for.

xoxoxo,

Layla

Focus is so important. I am learning to slow down and breathe. Had an epiphany yesterday in Rockport, in the Toad Hall bookstore. I will post the poem I wrote about that epiphany in a few days.

    Breathing, focus, slow. So important.

I'll miss your entries, but I'm glad you made the decision. I had to limit myself too.

Let me just say that that is a beautiful picture! Taking a break is a good thing and I wish you clarity from it. Hopefully you will get more done and come back with great experiences and moments to share! I feel as though I too, could use a bit of a break from blogging. Haven't put it out there yet but my posts have been lagging. I figure maybe sometime in the next couple of weeks I will officially take a break. Good luck.

This actually made me cry, for totally selfish reasons. I'm really going to miss your daily dose of inspiration. However, I totally understand why you need to this, and I wish you all the best as you listen to your guidance and take care of yourself. I have no doubt that this month will bring amazing changes for you.

I told you the boogeyman took your glasses. lol.
That's ok, Layla. Allow your blog to simmer for a few weeks. It will be ready when you get back. Maybe other things really do require more of your attention. May the force be with you always.

That part about the glasses sounds like something that would happen to me. I couldn't find a book for three days that I was reading because the cats had knocked it off the stool just out of sight.
Hope you have a great June of vacation. That is such a good idea. We will miss you but it will be fun when you come back. This blogging, Facebook etc. all take up so much time.
    Have a great month.

Glad to hear you found your glasses. I know what you went through, as I only wear reading glasses over implants and one contact lens. I take the glasses off and on constantly. I'll go from one room to another to do something and take them off when I get there, then wander off somewhere else leaving the glasses behind. Then the hunt begins! One time it took me almost a full day to find them! I put them in the cabinet over the bathroom sink. I don't know why!

Enjoy your month off. You'll suddenly discover you do have a life other than blogging. That's what happened to me when I quit Gather!
