Daydreamer's Progress Report
Photo quote de jour

So far so good. My reduced blogging and social networking plan is working. I'm getting back into a writing groove despite the distraction of the view above. The room where I write ( I don't want to call it an office) is a room with four windows of tempting views to the south, west and north. A lazy ceiling fan circles like a flock of birds high above me. There are five bookcases, two desks, an easel, a dollhouse, antique maps, vintage globes, a mini trampoline (which I use for spreading out large books and not god forbid exercise), odds and ends, and large painting by my ex. It would probably be easier to take a photo to show you, but not today. It's a cloudless June day, perfect for daydreaming. If I close my eyes and press rewind in my mind, I can drift back to my early school years in June, hot and bored, staring outside the wall of windows, daydreaming. The teacher's voice fades into a soft drone and I drift towards a different kind of education.
I didn't know it then, but my daydreaming was my first lesson in writing. It offered ideas, creative sparks, it allowed for time travel, conversations with movie stars and cartoon characters. It flexed my powers of imagination which continue today in superhero proportions. I'm never bored. Now, I daydream consciously, aware the ideas, fleeting images, snippets of conversation, idle fantasies feed my writing. Maybe conscious daydreaming is the difference between those who write and those who don't.
Gotta run, time and tide and all that...the irises in the photo are dried papery husks now, but the roses, lilies and clematis are peaking. I better go before I resemble the irises. I have some writing, ahem daydreaming to do.

Beautiful photo and words. Yes, writing is daydreaming. Or night dreaming. Just dreaming.

Good to see you. Glad to hear that the daydreaming is going well. I will have to try that in respect to writing. Have a great weekend.

You post gave me a lot of food for thought (as most of yours do). Glad to hear the blog/social media break is working for you. Your writing room sounds beautiful. I don't like to call my writing room an office either, because it's so much more. Yes, I get "office work" done there, but I also write, meditate, play, dream, and more.
