Sizzling Sssssummer Solstice!

Quote de jour

"There is something very refreshing about the Wiccan way, the Druid approach. They have no expectation that they can explain everything or indeed anything. Unlike the organised religions, Wicca is all about stuff we can see; the sun and the moon, the holly and the oak. Their godheads are based on a necessary reality, an existence that once yolked humankind to the earth and earth to humankind. And while the notion of “harm none, do what ye will” might seem familiar to Bible-lovers, it comes in a refreshingly dogma-free version with our Wicca sorority and brethren. Given what we appear to be doing to the planet in terms of warming it, melting it and polluting it, it might not be a bad time to start acting on their mantra.” –

 ~Hardeep Singh Kohli

It's summer solstice, the longest day of the year and nothing sums up this sultry day better than this song.  May everything be coming up roses for you this summer!

    Hi

The longest day, bright sunshine and blue skies, I shall greet all with a smile and a cheery 'Good morning' as I walk into town.

A nice quote, good choice of music and apt words.Long may your summer shine too.

I agree the Wiccan way sounds very appealing, and I agree even more with your lovely quote. Happy first day of summer.

Sending summery wishes you way!  Given the eco-state of our planet gone awry, I'm proud to be Pagan more than ever.

Thanks, sorry I don't know what they are. I shot this on the elevated park The High Line in NYC last week.

Oh hey, witchcraft, I find this very interesting. Are you practicing it?

I listened to the Ella Fitzgerald song. I have a strong feeling that there's some kind of spell on her lyrics. Could it be that she's trying to make me sleep? Hmm... nahh... I guess I'm just crazy.

So it's summer where you are. We're done with it on this side of Earth. Rain started to fall a couple of weeks ago and thank goodness for that. I've been sleeping in an oven for the last few months.
