What I'm Reading This Week -- August 8, 2010--Ommm
Quote de jour

You don’t have to love yoga to love the mesmerizing book The Great Oom by Robert Love about the first American guru of yoga, Pierre Bernard AKA the Great Oom.
The website omnipotentoom.com is chock full of fab vintage pics.
Less gripping but fascinating to yoga fans is the comprehensive The Subtle Body by Stephanie Syman. The information was way too familiar since I've written something similar. This subtle cover is a good example of why I like to post both front and back covers. This design only comes alive when splayed to reveal the cool aqua spine.
Nine Lives: In Search of the Sacred in India by William Dalrymple cleverly splashed the coveted blurb on the cover by Miss Eat Pray Love herself. This is travel writing at its best. The nine lives are about nine diverse people from monks to prostitutes who share one thing in comman. It deepened my already deep fascination for India. Nice cover with assorted Hindu deities.
Summery greens mix in with the preponderance of primary colors in this week's magazine mashup. I wonder long this red, white and blue trend will continue? My favorite magazine cover: The New Yorker for its vacationer tossing her cell phone into the pool. Best photography: Architectural Digest for the exotic home in Istanbul fit for a pasha. Best article: Is James Franco For Real? In New York Magazine for the excellent coverage on the brawn meets brains wunderkind and love interest in the Eat Pray Love film.

I want to read them all!

Cool. I did a double take when I saw your word kindling. So kindling has gone from a noun to a verb. How do you like reading in this format?
