Leaving Home to Return Home

Photo quote de jour

This is a Finnish proverb that reminds of the journey we all make when we leave home. At this time of the year, many students are preparing to leave home for the first time for college, but the real journey is the one we take to discover our true nature and our true journey home. The Buddha left his home, a palace with untold riches, his family, wife and newborn son for riches of another kind. After his first glimpse of the outside world he stood by the door, but didn't actually leave until years later. Sometimes, we need to stand at the threshold of a new life for awhile, to open the door, take a step and maybe step back until we take the final step, leave and make our way into the world, and our way back home.

I wish, but no, it's a beautiful property in New Jersey currently for sale. It used to house a Zendo.

Who is going away? Or is it the traditional college thing?

I think much deepness is afoot.

Too tired now for any comment of real substance, but I await to see what you reply.

Isn't that the truth, but so hard to step out into realms we haven't traveled yet. It's interesting you have Finnish ancestry. Half of my family is Norwegian and Saami, a link? Namaste, my friend...thank you for another beautiful post.

P.S. Wish you had a blog button so I'd like to put it on my scrolling blogroll button list, hint-hint, lol...

My daughter, who spent the summer with us, just left yesterday, to return to California. She is definitely on a journey, as we all are, to find what this life has to offer.

If only we could see what lies beyond before taking the first step but we can only imagine.

I think there are many "children" who are increasingly delaying this step to make the most of their parents unending generosity!

Only problem with that is you don’t truly grow up until you make this journey...
