Cat Saturday Celebrates #100!
Photo quote de jour

We have lots of reasons to keep our chin up. This is the 100th issue of Cat Saturday! Catnip for everyone! This blog has evolved as I explored different ways to celebrate the wonderful world of cats. I experimented making photo collages. I loved meeting other cat bloggers and worthy rescue groups to feature. At first, we celebrated a cat of the week and eventually a cat of the month, but it proved labor intensive. Don't tell my cats, but I actually do have a life. Later, we added a new feature Kitty Wisdom 101 which I hope will become a book. It ties in with the photo quote de jour theme of the rest of the week at the Boomer Muse blog.
What I love most about cats is their individual catitude and purrsonality. There truly are no ordinary cats. Here are a few cats who have graced our pages including my Siamese siblings Merlin and Coco, and our outdoor feral extraordinaire Domino.

News & Mews
It's same old, same old with Merlin and Coco this week. They will be celebrating their sweet sixteen birthday in October and any week without any catastrophe is good news. With so much talk lately in the blogosphere of feeding pets raw food, we tried it. They didn't touch it, but our feral Domino ate it and he's quite fussy. He doesn't even hunt anymore and has is more lover than hunter (except for human ankles). Domino is our official guard cat. He allows raccoons, possums and birds to eat his food but keeps intruders and bad spirits at bay. Lately he favors the wicker table on the porch as his lookout. Might he also be on the lookout for love?
Don't Mess With Domino!

Since his long distance love, a lovely tortie named Amber and beloved kitty of Ingrid King at www.consciouscat.net went to the Rainbow Bridge, Domino is officially single and lonely. Marg from Marg's Animals suggested another tortie named Splitters. They both are very independent creatures. What do you think? Do they make a nice couple?

Link of the Week
I'm hopeless at tweeting but did find on Twitter the most wonderful free-range no-kill cat rescue in Beacon N.Y. which is only about an hour north of my place called Mid Hudson Animal Aid Mid Hudson Animal Aid Click on the History/Mission button to see the cozy accommodations and adorable kitties. Or watch the video.
Purrs of thanks,
Layla, Merlin, Coco & Domino

It was lovely to see that even socialize and find homes for ferals. It's my hope that this winter Domino finally decides to give up his wild ways and come indoors, but who knows. Cat lovers are a special breed and I feel privileged to share my creative effort with you. If there is something you'd like to see here, let me know. Should I bring back a cat of the month, hold a contest or? Please visit every Saturday for the latest news & mews as we head towards (I hope) the next 100!

100th issue of Cat Saturday. Wow. Cheddar and Mao think that is really great.
And we have raw food in the house for he boys, it is a mouse that lives in the wall and comes out every night under the stove. I can hear it squeaking and the kitty boys sniff and sniff and sniff.
Happy Meows Days to Coco and Merlin,
Domino is just ducky.

Domino and Splitters do make a nice couple. So glad that maybe Splitters will have a friend even if it is long distance. We thank you for the shout out.
Congrats on your 100th post about the cats. I like the idea of a cat or kitty photo contest. Guess everyone could vote on the photos. That would be fun.
Take care Domino, Splitters sends her love.

Congratulations on number 100! Thought of you last night when I was dining with friends, a couple who are cat lovers extraordinare, and who have had the most horrible bad luck this past month. All three of their cats have been lost, one to old age, one to a coyote, and the other has mysteriously disappeared. As you can imagine, they were terribly distraught. Seems coyote are becoming quite a problem in this area.

What an awful loss for your friends. It makes me appreciate whatever time I have left with my three.

Congratulations on your 100th anniversary! I am enjoying your blogs so very much. I have been owned by a series of red tabbies who all lived between 11 and 14 years and one lovable feral tortie I called Sweetie. Unfortunately, I am the only Cat in the house now-a-days as we adopted Beau the dog and my husband says one spoiled animal is enough. Someday a fur baby will be dropped on our doorstep and will have a new home I imagine.

Hey Layla- Congratulations on the Cat Sat Centennial.
Great pix of the 'kids'.
Tell Domino I said it's time for him to finally wise up and find out what it's like in the cozy indoors.
Gee, I wonder why they call her 'Splitters'?
Don't think I ever saw a cat with such an interesting muzzle.
I've got to borrow a video camera so I can get some footage of Stella, the Tripod Kitty while I'm still installed as her temporary Major Domo.

Congratulations on #100! Cat Saturday is one of my favorite cat features out here in the blogosphere - my Saturday wouldn't be complete without it.
Don't give up on the raw food for Coco and Merlin - it can take a while to transition. I'm glad to hear Domino likes it. And I, too, have wondered why, with all the raw diets out there, nobody has made a mouse-flavored one? I've heard of some people feeding the mice designed as feeder mice for reptiles to cats, but I can't quite go there.....
Who knew Domino had a thing for torties?! Splitters has the most unique markings of any tortie I've ever seen. I think Amber would like it that her former love is no longer lonely. Independent spirits lend themselves purrfectly to long distance relationships.

Ingrid, thanks so much for your thoughts and good wishes. I'm not surprised Domino has a thing for torties. Must be that tortitude! The thing is; will Splitters be able to follow in Amber's lovely footsteps?

Congrats, Layla, on reaching 100! Love your Saturday cat blog.
Splitter looks like he/she went to get a face job and the makeup artist only did a half-cat job!

Thanks, Tinch. She is very distinctive indeed.
