Cat Saturday- Every Cat Has Its Season
Photo quote de jour

NEW & MEWS ( a short Labor Day holiday version)
Merlin (in photo above) contemplating whether the grass really does grow greener on the other side, and why hoomans would allow this corner of the property to grow wild for "artistic" reasons.
Domino like most cats is a creature of habit. He has his favorite spots in the garden, so I was surprised to see him sunbathing in the herb garden for the first time this week. I'd like to think there are other positive changes in this feral cat's future.

At the other end of the neighbor's lawn this week, I spotted a long-haired black cat who looked like Lunesta, a feral we used to feed many years ago. It couldn't possibly be her. Could it be Rambo, Domino's nemesis last winter, or a new relative? Clearly feral, I couldn't get anywhere near him/her. Stay tuned...
Domino is dreaming of his long distance lady love Splitters who lives with Marg of Margs Animals

Merlin and Domino love hanging out together on the hot driveway in late afternoon, sometimes until the sun sets. I can't understand why they prefer hot asphalt over cool grass, but like they say, some like it hot. Merlin is spending less time napping with his reclusive sister, Coco. Since losing her vision and developing neurological issues including walking in circles, she now limits her time to the bed, window sill, dressing sofa and other bedroom. Summer is coming to a close and Coco is gradually fading as well. All seasons and cycles come to an end, and we are making her waning days as comfortable as possible.

She prefers to be alone, but I did catch them together yesterday in the late afternoon snoozing, which is on the menu for me this weekend. Have a happy Labor Day!

I always love your kitty saturdays. This one is esp. poignant talking about CoCo. How do you personally handle an aging kitty Layla and that one of her 9 lives may soon pass on. I've actually never had a cat that lived a long time to deal with that. I had to put a 16 very, very beloved kitty to sleep b/c she had feline leukemia, but never one I've lived with through the ages. Both a great blessing and sadness. I know you're very spiritual and would like to know how you prepare for her passing onto Summerland. Great, great photos as always!

I will send you a private message about Summerland.

Domino, Splitters is dreaming about you too. We will do another post about you soon so you can see me.
Layla, that is sad about Coco. It is hard when they get old but she looks really comfy on that bed. As long as she is eating and is comfy, her quality of life is good. I had a dog once that walked in circles, and they put her on steroids and it helped a lot. I always think that the steroids are the beginning of the end, but it sure makes them feel better.
Have a good Labor week end too.

Marg, thanks. We'll stop by and I agree about steroids.

Cats should not be allowed the labor day holiday becasuse... they do not engage in productive labor, unless you're talking hunting. we know we have a mouse in the house because we know where the cats are busy sniffing under the stove or in the grates.

I guess hunting would be labor, but even Domino doesn't hunt anymore. Ah, la dolce vita!

Aw, sweet Coco...Sending her many purrs and much healing Light, for a gentle transition when it is her time.

That shot of Coco staring into the light is so poignant.

Aw, I love your kitty images! Cats don't have to strike a pose to get any pose right. They're so photogenic!

Thanks, I agree; there are no bad cat poses!.

Perhaps cats should be the post animal for Labor Day - they teach us that sometimes, labor can be highly overrated, unless it's inspired labor. As cats well know, inspurration can only be found in quiet, contemplative times such as sleeping in the herb garden.
Sending lots of light and love to Coco, and to you. Seeing a beloved cat through these final stages of their physical existence is such a bittersweet time.
