After Labor Day, it's time to retire the flip flops and switch gears. The kids are back at school and the cooler weather ushers in a more serious work mode for many. For me, it's crack the whip time and write, write, write. On a day trip to Nyack recently, I chanced upon this wonderful rusty typewriter displayed on someone's lawn. The added text is mine.

I'd bet that all writers feel as perilous in their writing as this typewriter is precariously perched - just so.

Yup, it's "crack the whip" time for me, too. However, as long as the weather is this beautiful, I have to make time for some outdoor time at least an hour or so each day. Since being outside replenishes my well, I figure it's time well spent and not an excuse to not get my butt in the chair
Oh, and about retiring those flip flops? Unless temps drop below 60, you'll find me wearing them well into November...

thanks for mentioning nyack. there is a nyack street in waltham, and we don't have a nyack in MA, so I was not sure where it came from.

What a wonderful typewriter. What would we all do if we had to use that now. At least it would be so slow, we would probably think up better content. Splitters sends her best and wants to know if Dom has had steak inside yet??/
