Cat Saturday - BFF Kitty Boys
Photo quote de jour

Welcome to a short holiday version of Cat Saturday. Happy Columbus Day weekend and Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends and family!
News & Mews
I'm doing a happy dance. Merlin is no longer in the anger stage of grieving and back in my arms. Yes, he's more demanding than ever, but as king of this household, he's entitled. After sixteen years, you'd think there would be nothing new to learn, but the amazingness of cats, never ceases to amaze me. Merlin has always slept under the covers with me like a person, but this week he's turned into a fur pretzel. He's draped himself into brand new positions over my head, neck, face and shoulders with the motor running full blast. It's not always comfortable for me (who needs to breathe if you're happy?) and he's chowing down his meals again like a samurai wrestler in training.
After Coco died, I thought I'd dream of her but nothing until last night. It was one of those dreams within dreams where I was sleeping and felt Merlin at the foot of the bed. Then, I felt the lump of another cat and there she was, Coco, perfectly fine and purring. I'd like to think it was a small message of hello from kitty heaven.
Merlin's curiosity has returned and he's up for his long walks and adventures in the garden as per usual. The tell tale sign of improved mood is the jaunty stride and tail pointed to the heavens. He's even less freaked out by Domino's kamikaze play stalking. In fact, how would you read their recent body language?

Thank-you. They have an odd camaraderie.

Those are great pictures of Dom and Merlin together. Sure glad they are becoming friends and even more glad that Merlin is getting back to normal. That is really exciting news. Take care and have a great week end.

Marg, thanks. It's slow progress. Enjoy the weekend holiday!

I'm so glad to hear Merlin is back to normal or even better than normal. Animals are so much better than humans when it comes to grieving - they seem to move through the process much faster. I suspect it's their innate knowingness that death is just a transition, not the end. I loved hearing that Coco visited with you. And the photos of Merlin and Domino are wonderful. I can't wait to see whether Domino will decide to come inside this winter.

I hope so too. He went missing again for over 24 hours and it will be interesting what he chooses: freedom or comfort.

ah yes, your Merlin and my Cheddar sleep with us like people. My husband is sort of amazed, not by how much Ched needs me but how much I need him. I sleep with hubs the first half, then Ched the second half of the night; I think I will be with Ched the whole time hubs is in Africa, seeing as how Ched's face is on this keyboard.
Yes, Merlin and Domino bff so beautiful to see.
Cats are the best gods ever. And the best lovers, ever.

Kathryn, Cheds will keep you warm while hubs is in Africa.

Laughed out loud at the top photo and quote: exactly like my idea of stretching towards success. Glad Merlin is showing signs of overcoming his grief. And, like everyone else, I enjoyed the pictures of him and Domino together.
