Cats Versus Pumpkin Invaders

Photo quote de jour

New & Mews
Housekeeping first. Did anyone notice the increase in font size? Any preference for this size or would you prefer maybe this size? Smaller takes up less space but some of us are needing reading glasses, so you tell me.

It's official: my Merlin (above) is a tyrant masquerading as the world's biggest baby. Now that he is the only cat left in the household, he rules it with a iron paw. It doesn't help that my husband indulges his every whim. And they talk about crazy cat ladies. What about the growing legion of crazy cat men? Yes they do exist. This is how I imagine hubby in a few years.

Last week at Petco, hubby saw our local cat rescue group there with a Birman for adoption. He's mentioned this cat every day since. I'm not ready to adopt but we are going to check out a situation this afternoon. I heard about a Siamese and a black cat who are being fed but have no shelter. I'll report next week. Meanwhile hubby is fattening up feral Domino to last year's polar bear weight. We tried luring the big Dom Dom inside via the laundry room with no success. The nights are getting colder and I've brought out the old "bear cave" an old shearling coat which he happily slept in last night. Domino remains suspicious of everyone and everything, including pumpkins. He bats at Merlin every chance he gets who is not amused.

Merlin isn't thrilled with the Halloween decorations either.

Simply put, cats HATE change of any kind. The only thing we all agree on is how lovely the garden looks.

Sounds like the few remaining flowers are a happy diversion from those pesky cats. Hope you're having a pleasant Saturday. A little bit of blue sky here today, but I'd love to see more.

First of all, I like the new size of the font. I have trouble enough reading and so the bigger the better. But this size is perfect.
Dom will probably be all right outside. He has been for all these years. That bear cave you mentioned sounds perfect.
They make a special bed that is self insulating when they lie on it. Let me know if you are interested and I will see where I got it.
That would be so exciting to rescue a kitty. I love black cats.
    Enjoy your weekend.

i LOOVE this font size. Perfect and a keeper.

I love a good cat man, myself. Married one. We fight over whom Ched loves best. I know it is moi.

I had a dream about Dom Dom that he and Merlin would become best buds. I mean best paws. Guess not.

    Lovely garden, pumpkin and flower.

I am so tired after celebrating. That's what happens with fatty, tasty cakes, beer and dancing and staying up late.

Merlin makes a gorgeous king. And of course, he's king of the kitties in your realm, Layla! I stay away from pet adoptions because I know I'd be in trouble. My girls are very fussy. How do you introduce a new cat into your house without a cat fight? If you have any tips, I'd love to hear them. And I also prefer the larger font. I can't stand it when I visit a blog and the writing is illegible. A big smile is now on my face and my girls are purring at the pics. of Merlin!

Wendy, thanks! Glad the girls are purring. Merlin is so vain. Re: introducing new cats. Every dynamic is different and eventually the hierarchy gets jostled and worked out. It takes time, but like human relationships sometimes compatibility just isn't there. Ideally the new cat is separated in another room and intoduced gradually over a few days. Fighting is normal, but the new cat should feel like it has a safe spot to retreat to and the old cat(s) need extra cuddles attention and talking to.

My eyes like the larger font... Age does have it challenges.

Cats have distinct personalities. Once set, like Dom, it is pretty hard to change their behavior. I think you have the right idea. Make Dom's life as comfortable as possible.

As for men and cats.. yes, we have a soft spot for a ball of fur that will curl up on ones lap and purr away. It is music to ones soul..

    chuckle chuckle..

    Blessings

Merlin the King looks rather sad - I'd go really slow with him when it comes to any more changes right now.

LOVE the photo of Domino with the pumpkin. Ghost kitty!

    I like the larger font.

Ingrid, he does look sad. This was taken shortly after Coco died ,but you're right about not making sudden changes.

    Hey, Layla!

These old eyes don't like small print. However, it's okay on the computer. I can read this. However, they are decreasing the font size in the newspapers, and I'm having a problem with it. It does no good to complain.

Let hubby get a new cat. It's the best thing to do. I adopted a rescue dog Thursday. I wasn't going to mention it to you until I take some pictures to attach. Will do it soon.

Definitely prefer a bigger font so a magnifying glass won't be needed in addition to reading glasses.
When my cat, 4Head, passed away, I replaced him with 2 abandoned handicapped cats, Kenggy and Captain Jack Sparrow HAWK.
