Halloween Week Spooktacular
Photo quote de jour

I love my online connections but there is no substitute for face-to-face meetings over coffee. Even better, is enjoying it outdoors like this weekend. My favorite place is Antoinette's, a tiny cafe with a huge following. They roast their own beans and bake sweets decadent enough for Marie Antoinette. Antoinettes Patisserie I couldn't decide what to get so the owner made me something off the menu, something new for me called a dirty chai latte. A chai latte with a shot of espresso sounded odd but tasted divine.

I'm so excited and not just from caffeine. It's the last week of October and the countdown to Halloween. Believe it not, Halloween is now the most popular holiday. There's something for everyone. Trick or treat for kids, masquerade parties for all ages, spooky decorations, pumpkin carving, and for some of us, Samhain. Behind the plastic Halloween masks and fake blood ghoulishness, pagans of all stripes celebrate a real holiday. Samhain marks the end of summer and the pagan new year. It's a time to honor dead ancestors and a time for reflection. There is something magical in the air and I have some spooktacular photos to share. I've saved the best pumpkin and flower de jour for this week. Plus some truly spooky other worldly shots, so let the countdown begin...

After a boisterous 40th birthday luncheon in Manhattan at amazing Kefi yesterday, I needed to unwind in nature. An early evening stroll around the corner from me provided grounding and photo ops.

My beloved dahlias are at their peak and the woods ignited in fiery foliage over night.

Ahh.. a beautiful rose. I miss the colors of the trees changing. I miss the walking under the trees and feeling like I was in a cathedral.
I like the small cafes where unique coffee and delicious food is served.
Two ski areas have opened. Loveland pass is closed due to snow. 1 to 2 ft of snow will fall today in the mountains. Enjoy your wonderful fall weather.
Blessings

That rose is gorgeous. By the way Happy Birthday. You are still a mere child compared to me. Enjoy every day. All those places you ate sounds terrific.
Have a fine day.
