Just Desserts Art Exhibit -- Calorie-Free Feast

Photo quote de jour

(a poem by Walter Stugis)

Albert Camus once said, "A guilty conscience needs to confess. A work of art is a confession." If that's the case, guilty as charged. There's a calorie-free pig-out going on at The Donald Gallery in the form of mixed media art group show titled "Just Desserts". This feast for the eyes is a juried exhibit of local artists (myself included) at The Donald Gallery  in Dobbs Ferry N.Y. The baker's dozen of artists and photographers offers a smorgasbord of visual treats makes viewers wish for smell-o-vision.

The works range from bold collages from Donna Thompson multi-talented Megan Dorien to digital photography and the painterly frosting-like brushstrokes of Barbara McNear's paintings which look good enough to eat.  And what could be more fun than the sweet burst of saturated colors in Doug Schneider's photography DougSchneiderPhoto.com (who as an added bonus is married to cupcake queen Sara)SaraBakesCakes.com

"Make a wish!" (above) is one of my mine, and my wish is that you enjoy the show. Proceeds from my work will be donated to my favorite local cat rescue group, Cat Assistance. Special thanks go to Michael Sassano of Ditto-on-Main for his superlative printing of my images. The group show artists include: Kate Colquitt, Nancy Delmerico, Megan Dorien, Stan Fox, Cheryl Hajjar, Tony LaMonte, Barbara McNear, Jennifer Orkin Lewis, Doug Schneider, Beverly Shipko and Donna Thompson.

The show, curated with finesse by Cheryl Hajjar and Donna Thompson is on until January 23, 2011.
