A Wicked Week of Kitties
Photo quote de jour
This is the kind of week it's been...

Odin may only have one eye, but it doesn't stop him from any activity. He finds a new crevice to crawl into or vertical surface to climb up every single day. His motto is: I stand tall and see all.

He's mastered climbing the twelve foot natural tree trunk (the ultimate scratching post) in his playroom with the agility of a jungle cat.

I always thought Merlin was the smartest cat I've ever known, but not anymore. Odin is scary smart. He's obsessed (clearly he's not the only obsessive) with playing fetch with a toy bird which we store in a drawer when not in use. He's figured out a way to crawl underneath the drawer and retrieve the toy. I expect him to ask for the car keys any day now.

Odin is mad about snow and the snow storm this week made him giddy for digging and prancing. Gris Gris slipped out for a brief whiff of fresh air and we'll have to figure out a method for keeping everyone safe come spring.

Odin is a bird dog in temperament, loving to retrieve and re-locate objects like toilet paper rolls, lipsticks, socks, teddy bears and well, anything he can fit in his mouth and carry or drag. I have hopes of training him to do some light housework and perhaps vacuuming
.
The mysterious Gris Gris has shown an interest in drinking water from a goldfish bowl (no fish) and the toilet bowl. I wonder where one learns such behavior. It's a first for me. He's so stealthy and camera shy I was lucky to get this candid shot. Believe it or not, I don't shoot hundreds of photos everyday. It just feels like it.

Odin loves his uncle Merlin by putting him in a head lock about three bazillion times a day.

Odin also loves his uncle Gris Gris, who loves to wrestle with him more than Merlin. Both indulge him to distraction resulting in possibly the most loved feline on the planet. (You may disagree). The truth is, Merlin has slowed down and is blind as a bat but adores the extra attention and company. He's still is in a snit about me. Who needs humans...

when you have fur buds? Merlin does wait for me on the bed at bedtime to allow me to pet him, but expects to be compensated with treats. I've learned to expect the unexpected with cats. You can't force them to do anything. I had a toothache last night and woke up to Merlin doing healing reiki on the soles of my feet. It's the first time he's slept by my feet in weeks. More amazing; after I went back to sleep and woke up later in the morning, Merlin was wrapped around my right foot and Gris Gris around my left foot.

It's a daily moving caravan of napping spots from the sunny, third floor staircase, my dressing room love seat, window sills, tops of dining room chairs, massage table, sofa, assorted cushions and of course, the bed AKA the cloud nest.
Merlin rules the roost from his heated window sill perch, which happens to be directly above Domino's outdoor heated porch lair. Merlin sensed Domino was in trouble this week and insisted on going outside despite the cold to check up on him.

It turns out Rambo or possibly his heir from hell attacked Domino this week. Hubby ran outside to break up the snarling fur tornado. Domino reigned supreme but needed some antibiotics. Even with his cozy nest, it's been bitterly cold and rough for him. Please send him warm thoughts.
Lonely boy Domino sunbathing (in between storms). He mournfully calls out to the air but no one answers.

Merlin is still king and reminds everyone including me (in case we forget. Fat chance.)
And all's well that ends well, usually with a nap, including one for me. Thanks for your patience. This ended up longer than expected. But you never know what's going to happen with these kitties around.

Wow, that is a lot of stuff going on at your house. Those kitties sure are keeping you busy. That Odin is hysterical and I bet he keeps you laughing all day. Thank heavens he takes naps.
Poor Dom. That is too bad someone beat him up or tried to. Tell him that Splitters sends her best and some hugs too. She looks at his picture every week. We hope his BooBoo heals up really fast.
Take care and have a fun week end.

I'm amazed at how well Merlin tolerates Odin. The photo of Odin in the snow is wonderful, as are all the others. It's hard to pick a favorite today.
Somehow, lonely Domino seems even sadder, considering all the fun the indoor threesome has these days.

Ingrid, they truly love each other. We're all looking towards warmer days when indoor and outdoor kitties can mix and mingle.

Loved the pics this time, Layla. Of course, I always enjoy your Cat Saturdays and look forward to it every week. Are you still fostering, or did you decide to keep Odin and Gris-Gris?
