Everyone and Every Thing Has a Story
Photo quote de jour

My body is back in New York but my mind is dreaming of all the stories from my recent Florida vacation. The plan of more being and less doing resulted in every writers dream: stories. Hearing random snatches of conversations on the beach, a seatmate on a flight sharing secrets because he said, "We'd never see each other again.", a farmer selling oranges, a Holocaust survivor's wisdom. You never know who will inspire you.
We are a celebrity crazed culture hungry for their stories, but the best stories can be from less glamorous sources, if you take the time to engage and listen. Every day encounters with strangers can brighten, enlighten and maybe change lives. The photo above was taken in the security line at the Fort Myers airport. The airport is dotted with original local art including this huge painting of the American flag. The line kept moving and every time I framed the image, people kept walking into frame. Finally, I gave up and realized the image needed people. I don't know who those three people were, but for a few hours we all shared the same story of flying from Florida to New York. We weren't strangers anymore, but fellow travelers on a journey both literal and figurative.
Out of the hundreds of photographs taken on this trip, I've be sharing ones in the coming weeks that sparked my inner muse. Hope you come along for the ride.

Welcome back, Layla! My favorite part of traveling has always been meeting and talking to new people. When you meet someone for the first time, there's always so much to talk about.
