What Are You Hiding?

Photo quote de jour

We are all masters of disguise. We may hide our age, weight or sexual or political proclivities. We may fudge our work experience or education on resumes. We hide behind polite facades until something snaps and a torrent of hatred spews forth. A good example is disgraced designer John Galliano and his recent anti-Semitic remarks. His actions boggle my mind, and I wonder if we ever know anyone. What lies beneath the surface of polite manners? We hide things that embarrass us. Things not politically correct, dirty, illegal, but we also hide from positive things. We hide talents, gifts or wisdom. Some of us hide from from success. What might you be hiding from?

I confess to a mad passion for palm trees. You might say, I'm cuckoo for coconuts. I'm sure if I'd been raised in Florida this might not be the case, but it was love at first sight in my childhood. They symbolized everything exotic and romantic swaying in the warm breeze while I lounged barefoot and sultry eating their fruit. Yeah,I'm crazy about coconut anything. Raw, in ice cream, coconut cream pie, coconut shrimp...you get the picture. And did you know coconut a mega saturated fat is now GOOD for you? Apparently it balances the bad cholesterol. My not so secret wish is to live on a beach fringed with palm trees ALL winter with a steady supply of coconuts.

Palm trees are among the most beautiful trees in the world. and certainly the most beautiful of the tropicals.

Southern Utah has Palm trees. St. George, near the AZ border.

Savannah, GA, too. And LA, of course. FL. I have not been to many places with palms. Only those mentioned and of course the Yucatan.

I also love the palms in the south of France and Italy. Believe it or not there are a few palms even in Canada on Vancouver Island!

I'm also a coconut enthusiast. For years I ate a chocolate coconut macaroon every day. Now every night after supper for dessert I have a coconut almond bar, one of those health food ice cream substitutes. And it always feels as if I'm tasting coconut for the first time.
