Walking in Circles
Photo quote de jour
After driving in nerve-wracking circles yesterday, the only sensible remedy was to walk in circles. Not just any circles but a labyrinth. Fortunately there's one near me and I felt calmer with every step. Researchers at Harvard Medical School’s Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine have studied the physical effects of walking labyrinths and found that it can lower blood pressure and breathing rates as well as decrease chronic pain. It also helps with problem solving, conflict resolution, grief and depression. According to Herbert Benson, M.D., director emeritus of the Benson-Henry Institute, labyrinths are “highly effective for reducing anxiety and producing the relaxation response.” It works for me. Google and find out if there's one near you and enjoy!

I hadn't heard that before, but it must be instinctual on my part. I feel like I'm always walking in a labyrinth.

So fascinating that walking in circles like in a labyrinth helps calm a person's autonomic response. Beautiful photo and great words. I am going to check my germinated seeds outside to see if they grew overnight. Tiny buds on our trees.

Tiny is good. Checking out their progress every morning is a satisfying way to begin the day.
