Let Freedom Fly On Passover

Photo quote de jour

It's Passover, the Jewish holiday celebrating freedom from slavery and oppression. While I'm not Jewish, my husband is and I'll be going to a Passover Seder at a friend's home tonight. Over the years, I've been to countless Seders and I love the ritual of upholding the principle of freedom. Freedom is a universal truth regardless of religion or philosophy. Yesterday, I snapped this cardinal  in the park and little did I know he'd play a pivotal role in my blog today. Every time I crouched closer, he'd fly to another location eluding me and finally flying to freedom from a prying camera lense. To my Jewish friends, I wish peace and joy and patience during the long evening of feasting. We joke about how tedious the ritual is before we can chow down but what small price to pay when so many people around the world don't have even basic freedom. May all birds be free.
