The End Of Cat Saturday - Growing Leaps and Bounds

We're growing leaps and bounds in more ways than one. All good things must come to an end and I'm thrilled to announce that Cat Saturday is moving to its own cat-centric website and blog called CAT WISDOM 101.com in the next week or so. More details will be announced here. The whole fur gang, Merlin, Gris Gris, Odin and Domino are purring with excitement to be able express themselves at blog of their own. The Boomer Muse has grown rapidly and getting ready to move to a new level. I will continue to post six days a week while Cat Wisdom 101 will initially post several times a week depending on how productive or lazy the cats are.

Photo quote de jour

Domino, seen here yesterday playing hide and seek. Last Saturday he was acting odd and didn't come for dinner. He may be feral but he doesn't like to miss a meal. He missed his nightly TV show (looking inside our living room window), and was no where to be seen on Sunday. In his younger days, he'd disappear for a night or two but not in years. My intuition told me he'd been in a fight and felt helpless.

Cats pick up on our moods and to my surprise, Gris Gris joined me outside and followed me like a dog as I searched the property. He sensed my anxiety and tried to reassure me. I sat down on the grass and Gris Gris climbed all over me rubbing and purring loudly for the very first time. Six months ago, when he joined our family, he wouldn't let anyone pick him up but he's grown more affectionate and since Sunday, he's like a brand new cat.

It's bizarre; the skittish loner is now as obedient as a well-trained dog without any training. Sometimes, I look down from my computer and there he is, sitting quietly as sphinx beside me. When not with me, he's snuggling with Merlin or wrestling with Odin. He has a soft spot for Domino and was happy to see him return on Monday, ravenous and bloodied from a fight. Gris Gris ventured near and sensing his weakness, left him alone to recuperate in the warm sun. Domino prefers drinking from the pond (as seen here in a private moment).

I placed a warm down jacket as a new nest on his "TV viewing" table. He's developed a small limp which is worrisome. The next trick will be trapping him so our vet can examine him. Merlin is due for a checkup with our mobile vet next week so stay tuned...

Merlin, loves sunbathing and strolling in the garden. Since his vision is impaired he doesn't go far but we have keep on eye on him. Speaking of growth, he needs more exercise to lose his winter weight.

Odin has grown as well but he's still a kitten. He's had a busy week of mischief including eating raw chicken defrosting on the counter tonight. Yesterday, he stole a pack of dental pics and used one on himself!

Odin could easily have his own blog of daily mischief but then, I'd have no life. Last week, we had another severe storm and an old double birch tree toppled. Our tree guy came to inspect the damage and  prepared to cut it down but I couldn't bear to see it go, so for now it's alive and sprouting leaves. Odin thinks it's his new jungle gym. He's toned down his passion for tree climbing. It's hard to climb high wearing a harness and leash (and yes I'm photshopping it out for artistic reasons). He makes do with his restrictions and loves digging holes, no doubt to hide all the things he steals from the house. What can you do but love the crazy lovebug?

He's doesn't sleep with us and sometimes feels like the odd man out when Merlin and Gris Gris are snuggling in bed together. This week, I woke up feeling a warm, furry ball on my belly and assumed it was Merlin but to my surprise it was Odin. You just never know what he's going to do next.

Odin, looking sweet as a bunny and the rest of us wish you a joyous weekend!
