Cat Saturday is Moving and Grooving
"Hmmm, the possibilities are endless, beginning with world domination," says Merlin a shoo-in for head honcho of this new venture. Odin is licking his chops in anticipation...all cats, all the time...Cat Saturday every day of the week, fine art catography, purrls of cat wisdom and a cat blog unlike any other? Coming very SOON! Let the purring begin!
NEWS & MEWS
Every day is an adventure at our house with four of the smartest and wiliest cats on the planet. Domino, the feral is still limping but the abscess on his leg burst the other day and is draining. Despite his condition, he made an effort to play with and headbutt Odin. Merlin and Gris Gris paid their respects and looked concerned. One day I placed a treat in his favorite flower bed. Gris Gris kept him company as seen in the photo below. Apart from his antibiotics, Domino is also self-medicating with catnip from the herb garden. Odin hasn't touched it yet and is content digging a hole to China. So far he hasn't ruined any plants but now I understand why cats like digging in the litterbox.
Domino has outsmarted numerous attempts to trap and once again snatched victory yesterday. Jackson Galaxy, cat behaviorist and star of Animal Planet's show My Cat From Hell, kindly sent me two of his homeopathic Spirit Essence formulas for stress and feral rehab. We put the drops in his food and water but Domino freaked out when I spritzed him ever so gently from a good three feet away. It goes to show how sensitive cats are. He seemed calmer and we gradually got him used to eating closer and closer to a large open cat carrier until he moved his entire body inside. He's always avoided any confined space so we considered this a huge victory. We scheduled our amazing mobile vet Dr. Rich Goldstein of MobileVetSquad.com for Operation Domino. Our hungry big boy took the bait, went inside the carrier and whammo, hubby slammed the door shut. With the vet on his way, he needed to say put for less than an hour. He didn't. He ate, gathered his wits and with a sudden Herculean force popped the door off it's hinges. We ran after with a net but it was game over. He looked at us from under the bushes with a look that said, "how could you and who are you crazy people?"
Some cats defy the odds and remain free and feral despite our best intentions. We have plan B but ultimately, Domino calls the shots. When he chooses to return, trust will need to regained. I will continue with the homeopathic remedies and offer a full report in the future. Many thanks for the continued good wishes, prayers and healing for him.

Poor Dom. He really doesn't want to be caught. I have never heard of a cat that was able to take the door off the hinges. He must not be hurting too much. Maybe he won't get in any more fights and so not get hurt any more. Dom, Splitters sends her best. She doesn't like being shut up either. Hope all of you have a great week end.

Marg, I've never seen anything like it. He must be hurting if he's limping but he ran like a bat out of hell. Purrs to Splitters and you.

love this Cat Saturday. So what is up with the new cat blog? Love Cats every day of the week. Will you have 2 blogs, or what exactly? I hope Dom Dom gets better. Ched and Mao just about lost the rest of their minds yesterday while I was out at Amherst for 12 hours. Cats are sooo sensitive.

Yes, two separate blogs. Boomer Muse will continue about five days a week with no cats. Catwisdom 101 will be only cats and gradually become daily. Purrs to you, Ched & Mao.

I can't wait for every day to be Cat Saturday! Exceptional photos today - I think my favorite is the one of Gris Gris checking out your reading materials.
Sending Reiki and love to Domino for a quick recovery. I don't think it'll take long for him to trust you again. Most likely, he's chalked up your attempt to help him as yet another human foible.

Ingrid, thank-you for being Domino's angel. You'll be happy to know he didn't stray too far away. We found him sleeping on the swing in the secret garden and brought him breakfast there as a peace offering.

Thank you for your concern and purrs for Chica.
I have caught all my cats using a large dog kennel with a string on the cage to pull the door shut - humane traps just did not Work for us. How close can you get to Domino?
We also use Silicea for abscesses - 200c once and it will open and drain. Gook luck and sending purrs.

Thanks so much for your advice! After yesterday's fiasco, it'll take a while to regain trust. Our vet suggested a large dog kennel as you mentioned.

Poor Domino! I sympathize. I was feral when the Human got me and even though I have lived here with her for seven years...I am still my own Furrsun and she is only allowed to touch me when I permit it. I hope Domino comes around, but I DO have a sneaking admiration for him!

This is very encouraging. Thank-you!

Domino is worthy of a blog-or maybe a TV series-all his own. He's quite an inspiration to the rest of us free spirits.

He is quite the renegade. I doubt he'd look kindly on a camera crew but he doesn't mind being photographed so who knows...
