Life, in Black & White
Photo quote de jour

Yesterday, this view from a train station overpass captured my attention on my way into the city. The heavy rain washed away most of the color, so why not turn it black and white? By sheer coincidence, I had a few minutes to kill and chanced upon The James Gallery in The Graduate Center The City University of New York where their current exhibit was entirely in black and white. As much as I love saturated color, black and white felt more than colorful enough.

Strange thing! Black and white photos always seem more "real" to me than color ones. Maybe that's because I grew up with them.

Nice shots. Where was the first one taken?

Thanks. The reflection is from a glassed in passage to the train platform and the jagged edged skylights from an abandoned old factory in Hastings-on-Hudson N.Y.
