Food For Thought

It's been ten years since I moved from Canada to the U.S and I'm still not used to American holidays, but any reason to eat good food is okay by me. It's the Memorial Day weekend and I'll be taking a short blogging break while cooking up goodies for my new Cat Wisdom 101 website launching soon. This blog post was inspired by stress snacking. Like millions of  Americans I often snack while working on the computer and when stressed. It's no accident that this country has the most obesity in the world. It's been a crazy busy time for me and I decided instead of stress snacking, I'd do something different. Warm weather fashion and buying swimwear is a big motivating factor. Instead of snacks, I'm keeping flavored water by the computer and when the urge comes to visit the fridge, I go outside and stretch in the garden instead. Without making any major changes, I've lost ten pounds by conscious eating and listening to my body. I ask my body, "Are you really hungry? What are you hungry for? What do you really want? Why?

Have a safe and happy holiday. See you next week!

Enjoy your week! Yes, the weight and food issue is huge, pardon the pun. All that supersize stuff and huge plates.

And fairly recent. When you are I were growing up, things were normal-sized and everyone seemed tiny back in the '70s.

Yes. When someone was 2 sizes or 3 sizes bigger, it seemed really horrible. The few 500-pound people were rare. When I moved here, from Canada, I immediately saw more 400-pound people, but not as many as now. People think of 30 pounds over as normal, which is not a healthy trend.

Scary trend with the first generation of a large percentage of obese kids.

Thank-you. It won't be much of a holiday for me with a back log of work.
