June Countdown To Summer

Quote de jour

"This is June, the month of grass and leaves . . . already the aspens are trembling again, and a new summer is offered me.  I feel a little fluttered in my thoughts, as if I might be too late.  Each season is but an infinitesimal point.  It no sooner comes than it is gone.  It has no duration.  It simply gives a tone and hue to my thought.  Each annual phenomena is reminiscence and prompting.  Our thoughts and sentiments answer to the revolution of the seasons, as two cog-wheels fit into each other.  We are conversant with only one point of contact at a time, from which we receive a prompting and impulse and instantly pass to a new season or point of contact.  A year is made up of a certain series and number of sensations and thoughts which have their language in nature. Each experience reduces itself to a mood of the mind."
- Henry David Thoreau, Journal, June 6, 1857

I couldn't have said it better myself. The official countdown to summer begins now. Let's make every minute count. It's good to be back from a working holiday. The break allowed me to work on my new baby www.CatWisdom101.com I'm fairly tech savvy but no geek. In between bouts of hair pulling, hissy fits and a potential nervous breakdown, I saw the light and hired a tech pro to help. Like many can-do kind of women, it's hard to admit when I need help and ask for it. There's no shame in not trying to do it all. I hope you stop by and take a peek at my progress.

The past few weeks have intense beyond belief and I'm profoundly grateful for forces seen and unseen that supported me during this time (and I'm not out of the woods yet!). There were shamanic animal messengers, laughter with friends, insights from walking the labyrinth, walking in the garden with the cats and even a dream of my guru Amma, who chastised me about my lazy meditation practice of late. Piece by piece, beauty, joy and peace returned as I regained my center. It's only when we are centered that can draw circle around us to bring us what we need, and like spokes of wheel send out what we value to the world.

A few favorites things... irises as delicate as angel wings. The season's first mojito, made with fresh mint from my garden.

Trying new things to grill like cocktail wieners... and while I miss my homeland of Canada, I'm happy to live in freedom.

Welcome back, Layla! Glad to hear you've regained your equilibrium, and in turn have gifted us with another beautiful, thought-provoking post. In summer I'm even lazier than usual, busily adding to my lack of accomplishments.
