What I'm Reading This Week- June 19, 2011.

Quote de jour

"Reading is always in style."

This is an abbreviated version. Short of cloning myself, I realized I can't be in two places at once. The weird thing is, the less time I spend on this blog, the higher the stats but there's less comments. The Boomer Muse is for your amusement. I need your feedback of what you like, don't like or what you'd like to see more of.

The focus this weekend is on my other blog with Odin's birthday, a different book review there www.CatWisdom101.com , my step-son's high school graduation, Father's Day and million and one other things called life.

I just breezed through the current best seller, The Parisian Guide to Chic: Style Secrets From Ines de la Fressange with the simple and sturdy red cover resembling a bible. It's no bible but Ines, a famous ex-model and muse of Karl Lagerfeld is a fashion icon who would be chic in a paper bag. The advice is down to earth like “Be nonchalant and forget your age”, she recommends. If  you see wrinkles, just step back from the mirror. Could ruin you mood and a bad mood will cause more wrinkles." The fashion tips aren't always practical, but her whimsical illustrations are charming, and even a princess of fashion faux pas will get something out of it.

A publicist sent me a new book about bicycling called Bicycling: A Reintroduction by Karen Ruth. Like most of us, I learned to ride a bike as a kid. What more could I possibly need to know? It's turns out, plenty. The beautifully detailed photographs of how to change a tire is worth the price of admission. Think I'll go out for a spin wearing a chic espadrilles and striped T. Happy Father's Day!
