What I'm Reading This Week - July 3, 2011- Goddess stories
Quote de jour
Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.
~John Lubbock
I'll second that sentiment, but I'll add reading to the mix (granted half my normal amount this week).

Yesterday I picked up an armload of books from the library but one begged to be read immediately, so I did. Changing Woman And Her Sisters is a collection of ten stories based on creation myths and goddesses and retold by Katrin Hyman Tchana and beautifully illustrated by her mother, Trina Schart Hyman. It has the look and feel of a children's book but it's not. I'm well versed in goddess mythology so I wasn't expecting to be as enthralled or enlightened as this book delivered.
Maybe it was the sweet summer air in the garden, the rare balance of not too cool or too hot. Maybe the sensation of my bare feet being massaged by grassy mother earth with my wise, old cat, Merlin sitting beside me, but I fell in love all over again with goddess stories. If you are a woman of baby boomer age, one or more of the stories will resonate powerfully, or as Goethe once said, "The present moment is a powerful goddess".
I read from cover to cover

Actually, it was more about what to do once you have it. A million isn't what it used to be
