The Earth Moved
Photo quote de jour

The phone rings and it's a friend in the U.K. asking if I felt the earthquake. "What earthquake? " I said. At the time of the quake, which reverberated along the East Coast of the U.S., I was driving home and felt nothing. A frisson of news and calls later, I felt relieved not to be evacuated, hurt or worse. It got me thinking about this week's round theme and how there's nothing rounder than our planet Earth and nothing more powerful than nature.
This shot of echinacea flowers was taken a few minutes before the quake struck. I added a little "shock treatment" and a quote from philosopher, essayist and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, who wrote these timeless words over 100 years ago.
