The Tree of Life
I recently saw the film The Tree of Life and thought it beautiful and brilliant in its mind-blowing glory. On a more literal level, I love trees; the bigger the better. With hurricane Irene barreling her way towards us, I can't help but think about all the trees mowed down in previous storms on our property, and wonder about the fate of the remaining ones. Given the precarious nature of nature this weekend, I'll be probably not be blogging this weekend but leave you with this quote de jour.
"A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease."
~John Muir

Layla, I have been thinking of you as we watch the progress of hurricane Irene. I hope all goes well and that your trees remain intact. "Irene" has impacted our ability to go on our honeymoon as we were intending to cruise the 1000 Islands on our boat....oh well, we too will be battening down the hatches...I will wait for your next post. Great pix! Here's hoping Big Bad Irene does no harm to you or anyone else on the eastern seaboard.

Tinch, thanks so much. We're prepped and treating this like a Nor-easter which we've experienced many times.
