Mother Nature & Hurricanes
Photo quote de jour

Over the past week, Mother Nature displayed a rainbow of moods from sunny to serious. The East Coast experienced an earthquake (as far away as my native Canada), a hurricane, tornadoes, and a whopper of a tropical storm in my neck of the woods. I can safely say the storm yesterday was the most intense I've known. Ever. Throughout it all, I felt no anxiety except for a brief awakening at 5 AM to four blasts of unknown origin. They sounded like mortar fire from the front lines of a war. Perhaps there's a war going on of a different sort. A war on this planet waged by a very unhappy Mother Nature who isn't keen on how we've treated her ecologically speaking. She is speaking now loud and clear. Are we listening? When we love someone, we accept all their moods, but we also treat them with respect. What can you do to love our planet more this week?

Yes, that quaker was felt far and wide. I've only felt two in Boston, though they happen frequently, but I've felt much worse in Utah. Yeah, my friends in Montreal felt it. My sister in N. Cali said they had several last week, most of them rumblers, with the shelves rattling.
The storm was scary yesterday, but could have been worse. Our power did go out for an hour, when the town was fixing a wire in the street. I've had worse tropical storms in Boston, such as Gloria in 85, then Andrew and Bob in 91 and 92, where trees fell in the street everywhere. I was grateful that didn't happen this time.
And we thought the northeast was safe from quakers and canes, ha!
Great photo, Layla!

Kathryn, thanks. So glad Irene left you unscathed. We were more impacted by previous Nor'Easters than Irene.
