Barefoot or Burnout?

I made something a little different today because it's September, and like it or not, summer is almost over. It didn't stop me from photographing my toes in the sun and searing the hot memory into my brain when the first winter frost begs for woolen socks. It's my note to self but you can share it. If you live somewhere warm or tropical, please let me know how it feels not to have seasonal shifts, and can I visit?

Photo quote de jour

Neil Young sang, "It's better to burn out that it is to rust." Do you agree or are you so stressed you don't know? If you want to find out if you're at risk for burning out, take this quick quiz from Psychology Today (I did it in under 5 minutes) and scored a too high for my liking, 64.

It's a TGIF Friday of a long weekend. I'll be taking my own advice and chilling this weekend, barefoot.

A lovely reminder to live in the moment. I always have a bit of a hard time with Labor Day weekend, I love summer so much and hate to see it go each year. Even though we still get summery weather into October in my part of the world, it's not the same: the light is changing, the days are shorter, and there's a bittersweet quality to these final warm days.

My most recent "trick" to manage my stress is to remind myself of all my blessings. So many of my friends are going through some really tough stuff right now, it feels absolutely ridiculous for me to complain to have too much work to do - especially since I love my work.

Ingrid, thanks for reminder to count our blessing. Maybe we could reframe autumn as the season of thanksgiving or giving thanks.

Note from tropical Florida (where I am barefoot all year: We do have seasons, Hot and Cool with comfort zones that last about a month between. You are welcome here anytime! I am so anxious for a cool taste of autumn that we are heading down to Australia on Monday!
    PS: Cat visitors welcome here!

I like to take life slow, so rusting suits me just fine. I lived in Tucson for seven years, and there was never a minute I missed the damp and cold.
