Labor Day Love
Quote de jour
"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."
~Confucius
As long as I can remember, Labor Day bridged an invisible divide between summer fun and back to school or work. Flip flops were packed away and toes squished inside socks and shoes. I mourned the loss of freedom to daydream and watch clouds float by. There were schedules and rules, deadlines and restrictions. The transition from any time/place/season to another requires an adjustment phase. September is one of the big transition times. This year more than ever with the 10th anniversary of 9/11 looming like an unwanted house guest, I'm can feel a weighty momentum. I'll be focusing on the theme of transition all this week but today, I invite you to think about your life now.
This is my tweaked version of the Holstee Manifesto from Holstee.com If it speaks to you, great. If it doesn't, make up your own. More on doing that tomorrow when we roll up sleeves and get back to work. But for now, love this Labor Day and squeeze out the remains of summer joy.

I've been out of school more years than I care to count, but I still get that sinking "back to school" feeling each Labor Day weekend.

Ingrid, it's funny how imprinted it is for so many of us. I doubt it'll ever go away so best to reframe it in a positive light.

I enjoyed the manifesto. Instinctively, I've lived that way. Have a happy Labor Day, and relax!

Relax is not my middle name but I'm trying.
