What I'm Reading This Week - September 18, 2011- Linda Evans: Recipes For Life
Quote de jour
"Give me a man or woman who has read a thousand books and you give me an interesting companion. Give me a man or woman who has read perhaps three and you give me a dangerous enemy indeed."
~Anne Rice from The Witching Hour
I'm back. Sort of. I have backlog of publicist sent books, owe the library a staggering amount for over-due books continue to read through thick and thin. But, in the interest of sanity and my eyesight, I've cut back, even on magazines. I loved the spread in Architectural Digest featuring the 150 acre Calabasas retreat for Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith. Divorce rumors about their marriage continue to swirl but I hope not. That home is too beautiful to split up. Amazing 9/11 pics in New York but I'm ready to leave the heavy week behind for something lighter.

When I opened the publicist sent memoir Recipes For Life by Linda Evans, best known as the television star in Dynasty, I was pleasantly surprised. The glamorous cover is a perfect example of "you can't tell a book by its cover". Open it up and an intimate display of personal photos, family recipes and plain-spoken words reveal another side to the actress: a down-to-earth serious cook who won The Hell's Kitchen competition. In the introduction she says, "You could chain me to a stove and I'd be happy."
