Is Multi-tasking Smart?

This a tweaked version of an image I posted last year. I thought recycling would save me time. It didn't. Is multi-tasking smart? It's been scientifically proven that multi-taking doesn't work. So why do we keep doing it? And more importantly, what would F. Scott do if he'd had the Internet? I wonder if he could claim a first-rate intelligence and write? Just asking.
