Press the Pause Button

Have you ever wished you had a "pause button" for your life? A chance to pause in the middle of crazy busy and just be? You can. When our lives are spinning out of control is the best time to pause. Everything and everyone can wait. Really.

In between work appointments yesterday, I escaped into the woods for a long walk. I had to for my sanity. My soul required it. For a nano-second I felt guilty and my inner slave driver said, "Are you nuts? There's no time. You have to do XYZ and ABC."  Good thing I didn't listen. So I lagged an a hour behind schedule but felt more energized and focused. Was the trade-off worth it? You bet. Everyone has their own way to pause.

I'll start you off with my pause button. Breathe... notice what you notice.

The secret? You have your own pause button. You can pause it any time. It just needs your permission to press it.

Beautiful photos - just looking at them, and really taking them in, is a pause in itself.

Gorgeous pictures, Layla! One of my favorite things is to look at a blue sky from between the branches of a tree. Have you ever read the poem "Leisure" by W.H. Davies. I think I've based my whole life on that poem.

Thanks so much. The poem is timely. I might include it in a post.
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
