The Last Taste of Summer
Forbidden fruit tastes sweeter but what about the last taste of summer outdoors?All summer I eat as many meals as possible outdoors convinced that everything tastes better al fresco. If we're lucky we can have the odd breakfast on the sunny porch near November. This year, in a twist of wonky weather we ate pancakes and raspberries, but not just any raspberries but ones plucked last summer from the garden still warm from the sun and flash frozen. They tasted pretty sweet with the bittersweet tang of the last breakfast outdoors this year. When I need another summer memory fix, a small bag of ruby jewels is waiting in the freezer.

Everything DOES taste better al fresco! There's something about eating fruit out of season that is such a special treat, even though most produce is now available year round.
