Vision Quest 101
I'm not here but it doesn't matter. I'm at a Cat Writers conference but we can all be in numerous places at once thanks to the apparatus you're looking at. Let's go on a vision quest. This journey begins with a walk in the woods.The woods look exactly the same as they did for philosopher Henry David Thoreau on Walden's Pond over a hundred years ago. There is a small pond beyond this cabin. This cabin is made of stone unlike Thoreau's tiny wooden one. The leaves crunch under your feet. The air smells earthy mushroom mossy pure. You want to go inside the cabin but it's locked. You peer inside the window and out the other side. Nothing is what it seems.

Reflections are distorted and mirrored. Notice what you see and how it feels. Breathe deep and let go. Relax. When we can let go even for a minute, we can see more clearly with fresh eyes, with a new vision. Welcome back. We are always where we are supposed to be, even when we think we're not. Thoreau once said, "If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away."
