These two stray late-blooming roses have finally gotten the memo that it's almost December in New York. The fresh rose leaves sprouting? Maybe they didn't get the memo. When something unexpected happens it allows us to re-examine what we really want or expect from a new perspective. The first deep frost will kill the leaves, then again, these roses survived an early snow storm last month, so who knows... they might be transformed into words on a page and bloom forever or...

Layla, the unusual warm weather we've had all November has tricked many flowers and bushes to start blooming again. It's such a delight this time of year to be walking down the street and see tiny crocuses and dandelions peeping back at me from a neighbor's garden.
