Naughty New York Nights: The New Rules of Attraction Book Launch Party
On a freakishly warm December evening, a girlfriend and I arrived at Lucky Chengs for a book launch party for Arden Leigh and saw red. Red walls, red cheeks, red book covers, red (okay pink) cocktails and Arden's red satin gown fit for a burlesque queen, made us blink. Glittered-up drag queen servers towered in six-inch heels and we knew we weren't in Kansas anymore. Arden, a former dominatrix and seduction coach for women has written The New Rules of Attraction: How to Get Him, Keep Him & Make Him Beg For More, and of course we wanted to know more (not that we
needed any advice). Arden is model pretty with creamy skin and reminded me of a skinnier version of burlesque queen Dita Von Teese. In a dark corner, a man coaxed naughty shapes out of balloons for guests, raucous laughter echoed and the room felt off-kilter as if anything might happen. I felt like Sally Bowles in cheesier version of Cabaret. Everything screamed topsy turvy theater, where art and artifice beg to merge. Arden later took to the stage to talk about her work and field questions about how dating has changed with the advent of social media. Holy Moly Roly New York, we are NOT in Kanasas, and sometimes I wonder if we ever really were. I have GOT to read this book! Right up my ally for my MS and have an appt with editor at the end of April. Thanks for a terrrrrrriffffffic night in red in NYC.

Yes, I am sure it will be useful. As part of my general research for the line I am targeting, I am keeping track of trends in love and sex. I even bought the Dummies Guide to Sex by Dr. Ruth. My family laughed. I said, "Research."

I've even subscribed to this online guy "Christian Carter" who has books on 'How to Get Him and Keep Him" and the funny thing is, he is also David DeAngelo for guys on how to get women, and my psychologist husband also subscribed to Christian Carter 'How to Get Him and Keep Him." I get the emails and file them. The heroines or the heroine best friends in my novels might need the advice. Or might dispense the advice.

It's really refreshing to see agents and even more so established literary bloggers like you support the up and coming writers who are trying to make a dent in the book world. I hope the writing stacks up, the night looked good. Is the agent giving you a few books for a contest with your readers
