The Power of Zero: The Fool

It's new week and I'd like to share the first painting in a series I completed many years ago of  the tarot. For anyone serious about studying tarot it's a valuable exercise and initiation to create their own deck.

The Fool is technically the first card even though it's labelled zero. Sometime between 400 to 600 BCE, the zero was included into the Arabic numbering system dramatically changing and expanding possibilities from measuring to the creation of algebra and geometry. Who knew something that came from zero or nothingness could contain so much power?

He who would travel happily must travel light.

-~Antoine de Saint-Exupery

In the tarot the Fool represents the power of possibility, of beginner's mind, of embarking on a spiritual journey (sometimes literally) while throwing caution to the wind. It's time to take risks, have adventures, live life to the fullest. Opportunities abound but the card begs the question: Will you follow your passion and take a chance?

Layla, I have the mate to this tarot.....I don't know if you remember, but years ago you gave me a painting of the 'Hermit' as it truly does represent me. I still have it, and yes, it still truly represents me

Terri, how wonderful to hear you still have the print and you resonate with that archetype! Because I painted the series so long ago and no longer paint, I wonder how I could do something new with the work. What I might do is play with the images in PhotoShop and in any case, share different ones randomly and not in sequence. Have a wonderful week.

The tarot is a wonderful gift for self-knowledge. My painting abilities are rudimentary but thank-you.
