4th of July Rules The World

It's the 4th of July, the day Americans celebrate their Independence from Britain. A pre-holiday buzz filled the air yesterday. As I drove around not feeling like celebrating,  an old '80s song I'd always loved by Tear For Fears came on the radio. I thought it was a love song but as I listened to the lyrics more closely, it felt more political and I later found a lovely Youtube video that captured the bigger planetary picture of the song.

By the time you read this I may have  already watched fireworks and celebrated: not independence but camaraderie.  Even though I've lived in the U.S. for ten years, I'm shocked at how little I knew about the history and so did some research.  Thank-you Bing for this "all you need to know about" July the 4th site

Enjoy, wherever you live in the world. We are all citizens of one planet.

P.S. If I did have to leave the U.S. I would miss a lot of things like the pizza from Pepe's
It's turns out food really is the universal connector. Enjoy whatever you're celebrating today!

    Layla,

Lovely thoughts & tribute on the 4th of July!
I am in Nantucket... After dinner, we all rush to
the beach to see the fireworks. Independence is
truly one of my favorite holiday's. Have a great
    weekend!

sorry but you had me at that Pizza that looks as if it is "white" pizza...my fave...no sauce, just olive oil/garlic and veggies and cheese. I am about to jump through the computer and eat that!

It's scary good! Yes, white: mushroom, spinach and gorganzola. I always get take-home and added the tomatoes.
